Axanthic Dusky Pygmy Rattlesnake

Common name of mutation: Axanthic Dusky Pygmy Rattlesnake

 Scientific name: (Sistrurus miliairus barbouri)

Details of genetics: proven recessive color Mutation

Comments: Axanthic Dusky Pygmy Rattlesnakes are quite attractive little rattlers. They are fairly common in some locales (especially Appalachicola National Forest in northern Florida).

In the future, When someone finds and hopefully breeds an amelanistic Dusky, this will be the key to the "snow pigs" (Snow Dusky Pygmy Rattler)

These incredible snakes are derived from a single wild caught female found in MS. They were established by Terry Vandeventer of Acro Iris Herpetoculture in MS. Some of these animals have random dark brown/black or yellow/orange spots on them. The pupil of the eye is a very deep dark red when light is shined into them.
